Gold can be marked with the purity number followed by K, KT or CT

Platinum can be marked with the purity number followed by Plat or PT

Just to confuse the issue German silver is also marked 835 or 900

Silver can be marked with st, stg, stirling, sil,

Stainless steel can be marked 304, 316, 430

Pat. Pend, means patent pending.
